Bahrain Women Association participates in the seminar on Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women Under Islamic Sharia

The National Commission for Human Rights and the Supreme Council for Family Affairs invited to participate in the seminar titled “Shariah and the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women”, 19-20 November in Doha, Qatar. Accordingly Eng. Asma Rajab Head of “Unbounded Women” program in Bahrain Women Association for Human Development (BWA) participated in the seminar.  

The seminar addressed the following topics: the challenges that prevent the implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW); women between the law, customs, and traditions; challenges facing the harmonization of international conventions and national legislations; raising awareness on CEDAW; womens rights between international conventions and originality of Islamic legislation of; women empowerment in Islamic shariah.
