Bahrain Women Association Participates in the World Assembly of Religions for Peace

President of Bahrain Women Association Dr. Wajeeha Albaharna participated in 9th World Assembly of Religions for Peace convened in Vienna, Austria from 20 to 22 November 2013. The purpose of the assembly was forging a deep moral consensus on contemporary challenges, electing a new World Council, and advancing multi-religious action across and beyond the Religions for Peace network.

The assembly had over 600 senior religious leaders from more than 100 countries who are strategically positioned to advance multi-religious action for the common good. It also involved representatives of governments, intergovernmental organizations, charitable foundations, and other civil society organizations to provide concrete opportunities to exchange experiences and to honor major successes in the advancement of peace, development, and shared security.

Important issues were discussed in the assembly related to peace and security such as transforming conflicts, peace building, justice, and respecting nature.

BWA president also participated in pre-assembly workshop related to women’s issues and role in peace-making.
