Environmental Citizenship Program (ECP) part of Bahrain Women Association for Human Development held Clean Up the World event with group of children on Thursday the 18th of September 2014.
Many organizations, schools and companies around the world unite in this event to clean mother Earth and take steps towards addressing the global environmental issues.
The event targeted children between the age of 7 and 12, the program of the event had many activities starting from an introductory activity about recycling, reusing and reducing wastes which has ended with a discussion about best practices of waste management for children’s level and simplifying the concept of sustainable development and their role in achieving it.
ECP members explained to the children the impact of plants in our daily life and this was followed by planting trees, each child planted his own tree to build a positive relation with nature.
At the end of the event participants sang an environmental song and a free painting zone was open for children to draw one big picture about their hopes of how they want to see the world clean from wastes and pollution.
It is worth noting that Clean Up the World event is held every year on the 3rd of September, nonetheless this year it was held from the 19th till 21st of September, the main aim of the event is to clean Earth and unite millions of people toward a global environmental action, it also aims to reinforce the environmental achievements on global level where every individual can contribute positively towards a cleaner and healthier world.
