Be-Free conducted a series of specialized training workshops. One workshop was “It’s my right to understand my rights” which concentrates on some of the main concepts of Child Rights in the Child Rights Convention, and how to deliver it to children in age-appropriate ways.The training tackled important differences, such as differentiating between Essential rights in the family, and the luxurious things children love to buy or have, and the difference between parents respecting their opinions and the role of their parents in protecting and disciplining them. Moreover the workshop emphasized on how to train children on respecting the principles and concepts of child rights and practice them when dealing with their peers.On the other hand, the workshop discussed how to encourage children to practice their right in sharing the difficulties and problem they facewith their parents. At the end, the training guide which has detailed workshops for children, was discussed along with the mechanism of implementing the workshops.
The second specialized training workshop was about protecting children from abuse and neglect. It covered in details the four types of abuse; physical, emotional, sexual, and neglect, the motive behind each type, and its short and long term effects on the child, family, and society. The training tackled the individual and societal negative practices and believes that creates fertile ground for abuse, and the positive ones that can contribute in minimizing abuse. Trauma was discussed as well, and how to deal with it, in cases of child abuse, and the nine factors that affect the personality of children, and contribute in decreasing their vulnerability, along with the role of the family, society, and organizations and individuals in protecting children.
