Be-Free Participates in the fourth regional conference on child protection against violence, in Kuwait

Be-Free Program of Bahrain Women Association – for Human Development participated in the fourth regional conference on child protection against violence, from 18th to 20th April, in Kuwait.  The conference featured an intensive and interactive three-day program presented by leading regional and international speakers working in the field of countering and preventing violence against children.

Be-Free Program participated with two papers. One was presented by Mrs. Esmat Hammad, in which she presented the program’s experience in protecting children with disability from violence through the project “The Human Being with Disability”. This project was launched in 2009 with the support and presence of the UN special Rapporteur on rights of persons with disability. The paper presented the main perspective of the project that is the Humanity of the person with disability comes before his disability, and a short film “Because I’m a Human Being” was presented to this concept in depth. Moreover, the paper presented the training workshops, and the training guides that the program is sharing with professionals, and interested institutes.

The second paper was presented by Dr. Rana Alsairafi, about prevention and dealing with bullying, and its strategy in dealing with the bully, the victim, and the bystander. The paper has also presented briefly the practical methods used by the project, and its publications that can be downloaded and used.
