As part of the activities of ‘Women embracing peace’ project to promote culture of peace in the community, BWA organized a training workshop on the culture of peace entitled ‘Sustainable peace .. from inside out’ at ‘Alrahma Center for Disabled Care’ on Wednesday, June 18. The workshop aimed to introduce the concept of culture of peace and inner peace, and to discuss how to practice peace and finally to present ways and mechanisms to promote peace. The workshop was attended by parents of the disabled as well as staff from different care centers such as ‘Shikhan Alfarsi Center for communication’ and ‘Friendship Society for the Blind’.
The workshop explained the concept of Inner peace and how to practice it, peace in family and how to apply it, and peace in community which explained that the relations between human beings are based on ground of peace and that the difference between people should lead to integration and development not to conflict and disharmony. The importance of inner peace to achieve any peace on the external level was emphasized during the workshop.
Many real-life examples that address the needs of the attendees were shared, for example ways and means of dealing with disable people how to promote a culture of peace among parents and staff, which will be reflected on how they deal with disable people..
At the end of the workshop, the participants expressed their desire to participate in more events organized by BWA in the field of peace and tolerance, which helps them in playing their role in these centers that deal with this group of people with disabilities.
