BWA Conducts training workshop on ‘Gender mainstreaming in development policies’

BWA organized a training workshop on ‘Gender Integration in development policies’ in Qatif, Saudi Arabia, from February 22nd to 23rd 2015. The purpose of the training workshop was to explain the concept of Gender and its impact on the society, understand the impact of cultural and social legacies of the community on the roles of women and men, illustrate the importance of re-definition of roles between men and women in society on the basis of participation and its impact on community development, empowering participants to identify the concept of Gender Responsive budgets and some related tools.

The training workshop explained the reasons for paying attention to Gender issues, amongst which unfair discrimination between legal and constitutional rights of women and the actual gains, depriving women of active participation in the development process, undermining and marginalizing the efforts made by women to achieve advancement and prosperity of society, creating some kind of balance between the role of women in family (private) and between economic and social role (public).
