BWA Honored at “ 2015 Arab NGOs Award”

Bahrain Women Association for Human Development (BWA) won  the “ Human” award from the  Organization of Islamic Cooperation Humanitarian Funds (OICHF).

BWA president Dr. Wajeeha Al-Baharna received the award from Sheikh Abdulaziz Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of (OICHF) within the activities of “2015 Arab NGOs Conference/Award” under the slogan of “The Role of Donor Organizations in Institutionalization of Community Initiatives”. The event was organized by the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Regional Network in coordination with UNIDO and hosted in Bahrain on 20 to 22 December 2015.

Dr. Al-Baharna praised and thanked BWA members for their dedication and humanitarian efforts. BWA also participated in the exhibition held in conjunction with the conference where various BWA’s publications were displayed such as training manuals, stories, pamphlets, and others that gained the attention of the audience.

In addition, BWA president participated in defining the humanitarian work in the book published by the CSR Regional Network for the conference.  She expressed the following: “Humanitarian work …is what makes life meaningful, and it’s the supreme task of life.

The bases of humanitarian work are human values and principles, they are its spirit.

It’s foundation; helping and giving unconditionally to all people, without distinction as to religion, color, race,but considering all human beings.

Its pillar; working purely for the sake of God, not desiring any reward or thanks.

Its source; good intentions, and sensing people’s pain and needs.

Its focus; human being as the core of change and the goal of human development.

Its sustainability: through authentic philanthropy, by building human capabilities from the inside out, empowering, and teaching to fish rather than giving a fish.

Its outcome; Global coherence, where people cooperate and unite for the ultimate good for humanity.

Its utmost aim; Instilling goodness which inspire actions of good doers, and providing a model of humanitarian work.
