BWA participated in the regional consultation for the Arab States

Bahrain Women Association for Human Development (BWA) received an invitation from UN Women and the Committee on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), to participate in the regional consultative meeting to prepare a written note to propose a general recommendation on human rights of Women. Asma Rajab Head of “Unbounded Women” program in BWA participated in the meeting conducted in Amman, Jordan on 27-28 January 2013.
This consultation aims to assist the CEDAW committee in drafting the general recommendation relating to women in situations of conflict and post-conflict, taking into consideration the diversity of conflicts, experiences and issues faced by women in the realization of their rights recognized by the CEDAW and other international treaties on Human Rights. The Consultation is funded by the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, also known as UN Women, and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).
