BWA Participated in the third regional coalition conference (Equality Without Reservation)

Dr. Wajeeha Albaharna, President of Bahrain Women Association for Human Development (BWA) participated in the third regional coalition conference (Equality Without Reservation) in partnership with New Woman Foundation, in Egypt 26-28 January 2013.

Some of the topics discussed in the conference were: the achievements and complications the coalition faced; personal status laws and the economic and social rights for women; major challenges the coalition faced after Arab Spring.
The meeting was concluded with the following recommendations: embodying clearly the human rights – including womens human rights – in the national constitutions; equal rights of full citizenship for all citizens women or men; improving  interaction with the Commission on the Status of Women CSW (New York) and UN
to  promote womens rights; coalition and unity of womens organizations even if they have different views, emphasizing to accept the CEDAW protocol and lift all reservations, in addition to ratifying the Optional Protocol.
