Eng. Saba Al Asfoor the president of Bahrain Women Association for Human Development have participated in the first Consortium of Arab Policy Research Institutes (CAPRI) workshop, organized by the Issam Fares Institute’s (IFI) Research Advocacy and Public Policy-making (RAPP) program, took place on January 15th and 16th 2012 at the American University of Beirut. A group of approximately 10 policy research institute and think tanks advisors gathered from across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Participants came from Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, Egypt, Yemen, Bahrain, and Oman. The aim was to discover common opportunities and challenges during this time period, discuss strategies for moving forward.
The workshop also brought up the challenges facing those centers in financing the researches and the mechanism of actions to get information from their work environment.
The workshop came up with many recommendations, the most important one to be mentioned in the need for strategic communication, networking and exchange of information between those centers to provide credibility and transparency to issues of common interest and to encourage sponsors to support research projects with fund which will participate in forming the Public policies of their countries.
