BWA Participates in UN Women Global Civil Society Dialogue

BWA board member and member of the Arab States Civil Society Advisory Group for UN women Engineer Saba Al-Asfoor participated in UN Women Global Civil Society Dialogue conference held in New York City on 23-24 November 2015. Almost 300 women’s rights advocates, members of UN Women’s Civil Society Advisory Groups (CSAG) from all over the world along with other civil society and social justice actors and gender equality stakeholders to discuss strategies for reaching a Planet 50-50 by 2030 and to discuss strategies for strengthening UN Women’s partnership with civil society actors to deliver concrete results for gender equality by 2030. This meeting is part of a series of consultative meetings held by the UN women related to the progress made in achieving gender equality.

The objective of the consultative meeting was to promote dialogue, and to be as a communication between the UN Women and civil society organizations in the Arab region. Also, enable the UN women to benefit from the experiences of civil society organizations, and to exchange the perspectives to enhance the programs and priorities of UN Women. As well as to review what has been achieved in terms of accomplishments and commitments adopted by the countries to reach gender equality and women’s empowerment Finally 5.  The outcomes of the Global Civil Society Dialogue will inform the CSW60 intergovernmental discussions.
