Given the efforts of BWA empowering the role of women in society, “Women Alliance for Virtual Exchange -WAVE” has invited BWA to attend a meeting in Jordan for Civil Society Organizations that works on womens issues. Mrs. Meena Kadhimi board member and head of Media & Inter. Affairs represented BWA at the meeting. The meeting was part of a bigger event, the MENA ICT Forum, the region’s premier ICT Event that took place in Jordan between the 6th and the 7th of March 2013.
Since technology nowadays is taking a major part in all campaigns, The MENA ICT Forum aimed to highlight the newest ideas and innovations in the field of ICT. The Forum covered vital issues related to regional investment climates, legislative supportive systems, infrastructure & communications, emerging technologies, education and human capital development. The MENA ICT Forum 2013 theme was “Arab ICT Spring: Realizing Potential”, featuring: MENA ICT Expo, Invest In ICT, Business Matching Sessions, Arab Golden Chip Awards, and other Networking Events.
Note that WAVE”, is a new alliance in the region that will be working to improve the quality of life for women through capacity building, advocacy, awareness, networking and experience sharing between women CSOs through ICT.
The meeting gathered CSO’S that was part of the project from the beginning and new CSO’S from different new countries like Bahrain, Emirates, Libya and Yemen. WAVE was officially launched on 6th March 2013 at the Gala Dinner in the presence of the official delegates from Arab participated countries and the registered CSO’s.
