Corporate Social Responsibility in the 2nd Middle East Conference

“Our main problem lies when we focus on the solution to the consequence of a problem” an intervention raised by Dr. Rana Al Sairafi, manager of the Be-Free Program at Bahrain Women Association during the “Second Middle East Conference for institutions’ Social Responsibility”  An event organized by The Bahrain Society of Engineers and in cooperation with the National Commission for oil and gas back in February 2015.

BWA’s participation came as a result of its continuous collaboration with the national and international corporations in finding solutions to problems caused by societal issues relating to women, children and the environment in particular and human development in general. The collaborations are reflected through fundings by these corporations to assist BWA to carry out  projects that will achieve the desired goals towards societal issues. It is worth mentioning that BWA, represented by its Vice Chairperson Dr. Soroor Qarooni, received the Leadership Award in  Social Responsibility in 2012 during the ceremony held in Mumbai, India on the occasion of the Declaration of February 18th the World Day of Corporate Social Responsibility. Dr. Qarooni talked, during a round table discussion, about the vital role which commercial corporations can play in the development of communities and the spreading of the concept of social responsibility in the countries in which it operates.

Also, in 2012, BWA was recommended by the Emirates Environment Group to attend the Gulf Petrochemical Company’s event on the Corporate Social Responsibility and it was a good opportunity for BWA to tackle issues of concern relating to cooperation between corporates and civil societies.
