Emphasizing on rational consumption, Environmental Citizenship Program conducted a workshop “Your choices, a power to shape the future”

On the 20th February 2017 the Environmental Citizenship Program (ECP ) under Bahrain Women Association For Human Development conducted a workshop titled “Your choices, a power to shape the future”  for  members of Riffa Women Cultural Charity Society.

Eng. Budoor Rajab ECP member presented the workshop, which was attended by 20 participants. She  focused on 3 main points: Features of today’s World; who is a rational consumer; and influenced or influential people. She described the rational consumers as those who are conscious and feel the sense of belonging and responsibility toward planet earth. Such consumer make their own decisions and choices, free from external influence such as trends, imitation and, advertisement. The workshop aimed to deliver a message that every person can influence others around him/her, by making the right choices that contributes in shaping a better future.

The change towards rational consumption mentality and behaviors has significantly positive impact economically and socially, and it is a responsibility that falls equally on individuals, governmental or Non-governmental organization

It is important to note that Bahrain Women Association for human Development is keen to align its activates with the global initiatives, and the workshop “Your choices, a power to shape the future” serves the goal number 12 in the UN Suitable Development Goals, which addresses consumption patterns and suitable production.  The workshop also supports the second principles of the Earth Charter which addresses production, reproduction and consumption.
