Environmental Citizenship participates in Tele Conference of the Regional Representatives of the Major Groups and Stakeholders in UNEP

To further pursue the recommendations of the Earth Summit Rio +20, and as a representative for the West Asia region, Mrs. Fatima Frutan, President of Environmental Citizenship Program-BWA, participated in the teleconference meeting for Regional Representatives of the Major Groups (MG) and the Stakeholders of UNEP organized ‪by UNEP – Major Group Stakeholders Branch, on October 9th, 2012.

‪Participants discussed the: Impressions from Rio+20, the debate over the engagement and the future role of the Regional Representatives and Stakeholders in the environment program, the election of two new regional MPs in “Regional Consultative Meetings” RCMs and finally discussion over the next Global Forum for MG and Stakeholders GMGSF and Governing Council.

In addition, Ms. Frutan stressed on the importance of youth involvement as one of the most influential elements in the process of sustainable development.

This meeting was initiated to work on the outcomes of Rio +20 that focuses on strengthening the partnership between UNEP and the regional representatives of the MGs and the Stakeholders as well as to work transparently in multilateral organizations.
