Environmental citizenship Program at the Major Group Stakeholders Consultative meeting for UNEP

The Environmental Citizenship Program (ECP) under Bahrain Woman Association for Human Development received an invitation from the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) Major Group Stakeholders Consultative meeting held in the capital Amman, The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on 25-26 September 2017. Mrs. Mahnaz Kadhemi and Mrs. Fatima Frouten were representatives of the ECP.

The sessions focused on pollution in the Arab region by presenting a number of environmental reports and statistics. In addition to that, region representatives presented their work and emphasized on the role of civil societies in implementing the sustainable development goals in an attempt to achieve the 2030 vision. It is worth mentioning that Mrs. Fatima Frouten was selected as part of the team drafting the Civil Societies Statement which will be adopted by UNEP and will be presented at the United Nations Environment Program (UNEA) meeting held early December in Nairobi.
