From the initiation of the development process in the Arab world, and through the strengthening of the roles and functions of the Civil Society Organizations (CSO’s) in human development, and coordination of development policies geared especially for young people, the Board Member and Head of Media &International Relations Department; Mrs. Meena Kadhimi, participated in the First Forum for Arab CSO’s under the slogan “For an effective partnership to meet the challenges of human development” in Rabat – Morocco on the first of June 2013, at the invitation of the National Union of Moroccan Women(UNFM), under the honorary presidency of Princess Lalla Meryem.
The forum focused on three workshops which reflected the main topics of the forum and produced the following recommendations:
In the workshop “The Institutionalization of the Leading Role of the CSO’s in the Arab World”, it was agreed upon to respect the independence of the civil society by relying on the principles of human rights by the founding principles of CSO’s, institutional rehabilitation of CSO’s on the basis of eligibility and independence, diversified funding according to a guidelines that ensures transparency and credibility based on standards and mechanisms that ensures transparency and credibility in the measures taken, and the proposal of a permanent Arabian forum for CSO’s based in Rabat, the capital of the Kingdom of Morocco. In the workshop “Moroccan experiences in the integration of civil society in human development”; the participants went about communicating and exchanging methods and successful experiences. Meanwhile the youth participants interacted enthusiastically in the workshop “Youth Responsibility in Activating Civil Society in the Arab world”, where they agreed upon the motivation towards volunteer work in parallel to the reformation of youth and improving their capabilities in taking responsibility, media responsibility in promoting citizenship culture among young people, reliable field studies embodying the reality of youth and suggesting realistic solutions to ensure involving them in development work, and the formation of a group by the youth participants, which was temporarily named ” Arab youth Union”
