The Environmental Citizenship Program of Bahrain Women Association for Human Development is keen on building its team members’ competence and keep their knowledge up-to-date. To achieve that, the program arranged a lecture titled “Planetary Crises and Ecological and Cultural Transitions” on Wednesday, 10th of August, 2016 for its members.
The lecture was prepared and presented by Miss Marwa Yousef Alkooheji a PhD candidate in “Anthropology” – University of North Carolina. The two main issues addressed in the lecture were: “The different responses to the current ecological crisis”, and “Examination of the transition approaches”. Miss Marwa illustrated practical ideas and successful experiences which aim to achieve harmony with the environment away from business driven solutions. Participants stated that they have benefited from the lecture and its practical ideas, which can be incorporated into their daily lives rather than it remaining as theoretical concepts only. Such statements ensure that the goals set out in the Environmental Citizenship Program are achievable.
