Bahrain Women Association (BWA) started its first training workshop titled ” Sustainable Peace Comes From Within to Others” in the context of the its project (Women Embracing Peace) launched last May. The workshop was conducted in November 30, and was intended for women interested in peace values and the inner peace concepts. It aimed to introduce the concepts of “culture of peace” and “inner peace”, and to discuss means of practicing and promoting peace in our lives.
The workshop presented the reality of peace according to the facts stated in the 2013 Global Peace Index Report, and on the geographical disputes in the Islamic world. It also addressed topics related to the values and culture of peace, concluding that practicing peace culture is value-related, because generally values govern behavior, and peace culture derives its strength from participation, discussion, and cooperation and not from violence.
The workshop discussed the following issues: How to practice peace culture in our lives, emphasizing and strengthening inner peace concept; Peace in the family, the fundamental nucleus of society; Societal peace, realizing that initially human relationships is based on peace, and that the differences between individuals leads to integration and development not conflict and dislike.
At the end of the training workshop, participants expressed that they benefited from discussions and the content, and requested to conduct more workshops that promotes culture of peace and tolerance.
